Right now it’s fall here in the Phoenix Valley, and we are excited to open our windows and enjoy the cool breezes. Thank goodness the air conditioners got us through the rough months, and now we can really get to saving some money on our electric bills.

There’s also time shift plans (use your major appliances later in the day, or budget billing that equalizes the amount you have to pay over a year period. Many companies want you to live in a home for a year so they can check out your usage before the estimate what they think you will use.
APS also has great tips too, especially for the hot weather months. But, those of us who have lived in Arizona a long time get cold once in a while and need help reducing our electricity bill in the winter as well. APS also offers an on peak/off peak price differentiation and you can choose different plans based on your usage.
And last but not least, there is always solar as well. Solar panels can be installed to your home and save you some money, however it is quite an investment to make. And, if you aren’t planning on staying in your current home long, solar may not be the most cost efficient plan for you. If you are thinking about doing solar you really need to do a lot of comparison shopping. There are also leases that you can do on a solar unit, however, if you go to sell your house, a buyer has to be approved for the solar lease as well as their mortgage. This can cause some major snags in buying a home, so before you jump to getting solar, do a lot of research!
